Preparing For The END (On A Budget)

I’m skeptical.

I’m skeptical about everything that’s on the news, every action the government takes, and every post I see on social media.

And recently, that skepticism has been amplified. Turned up to 11. That’s due to this coronavirus hysteria.

Is this the best way to live? Constantly questioning everything you hear and see?

Probably not. But, it’s sure as hell fun.

In my free time, my brain just pieces together crazy conspiracies and theoretical scenarios that may or may not happen. And they’re pretty fun to think about.

So, I thought it’d be fun to share one of these theoretical scenarios with you… THEN… Go a step further and show you how to prepare for it.

Because, the other day, I was thinking about what would happen if this corona panic gets out of hand, going through everything I’d need if society were to collapse.

And I thought it’d be interesting to compile that list and share it…

Why?

Because upon thinking about all the items that would be essential to my survival, I realized the list was not that long. All you’d need are the skills to execute with the short list of tools I’m going to share below.

And to be clear, I’m not a prepper. I’m a go with the flow kind of guy. This is all just for fun:

Tool #1: Ranged Weapon

This is a no brainer. But, the weapon of choice depends on how skilled you are.

Because the obvious choice for end times would be a shotgun. You can hunt for food, and you can fend off anyone who crosses your path.

But, if you think about this logistically, you’ll realize that you’ll eventually run out of ammo.

Enter the compound bow.

Yes, you can still run out of ammo with a compound bow, but ammo can last longer. And if you’re really savvy, maybe you can make some arrows out of tree branches or something.

However, the compound bow requires a lot of skill. Skill that I don’t have. But, skill that maybe I’ll learn.

Because shooting bows is fun, and it can be a valuable skill to have if society were to go bye-bye.

Tool #2: Fishing Rod

My plan for a societal collapse is to escape to the woods. And I have this vision of myself camping out right by a lake filled with fish.

And they say NOT to go out to the country, or into the woods, if society collapses. The recommendation from weirdos who think like me is to stay in the cities if you want maximum protection.

BUT…

I don’t like dealing with people anyway. And I definitely don’t like listening to the screaming of panicked sheep…

So… Fishing rod.

Now, the fishing rod obviously serves the purpose of catching fish.

But, if you’re catching fish, you can save some of the ammo we talked about in the last section, using it only in dire situations.

The best part about the fishing rod is that you never run out of bait. It’s all in the ground.

Now, you can run out of hooks, or line.

But, should society collapse, I figure hooks and line will be the last thing on people’s mind.

While the masses are raiding grocery stores, I’ll be at the local Bass Pro grabbing the gear I need from the fishing section.

Tool #3: Knife

Filet the fish,

Butchering your game,

Other miscellaneous activities.

That’s what a knife is good for.

In fact, if you don’t have a knife, I’d say you won’t last a day in the apocalyptic world.

But, I wouldn’t know from experience.

Tool #4: Camping Gear (Bare Essentials)

Obviously, if you want to live in the woods like me, you’ll need a tent.

Nothing huge. You want portability.

Next, you’ll want a camp grill. And this is a no-brainer because you gotta eat.

Again, you want something portable.

Something that won’t get in the way should you have to quickly escape camp.

Tool #5: Boat

The only reason this made the list is because the other day I came across these fold-up kayaks that seem kind of cool.

They wouldn’t be my go to under normal circumstances, but when I need portability, like I would in a societal collapse, those would be my go-to.

And kayaks are necessary because, as any fisherman knows, bank fishing can suck at times. You can’t get to the BEST fish honey-pots from the bank.

But, you can with a kayak.

And if you expect to live off of fish for a while, you’ll need some kind of boat.

More Tools

Now, there’s probably a bunch more that I’m forgetting here, but these are the essentials in my mind.

You’d probably need ropes and lighters and more, but those are small details that I usually overlook.

I’m a big picture guy.

Anyway, this is my doomsday list that won’t break the bank.

Let me know if I forgot anything.
